The Official Countdown to Kilimanjaro!
So, we are now just 23 days away! I don’t know where the time has gone. We really are on a final push now to reach our ultimate goal of raising £10,000 for our chosen charities. They are Claire House Hospice, Reuben’s Retreat, Cancer Research and Age UK. We have raised just over £6,000 (including another £200 yet to be added) which is absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far. There is still time though!
My special thanks this time round to go Thatto Cycles in St Helens @BikesYouLike
If you are into your cycling, this is a fantastic shop specialising in top of the range bikes, clothing etc. You will be well looked after! They kindly donated all sorts of goodies to help us reach the summit. We are very grateful!
I would also like to thank Firefly Recovery @fireflyrecovery – Reduced muscle soreness and improved performance.
Wow is all I can say. These devices are amazing! Following my last half marathon my legs were in agony. After keeping the device on for 6 hours, I was able to walk the next day without any pain. It also helped speed up the recovery on an injury on my left foot which after 3 days was completely back to normal.
Anne and I climbed Snowdon last weekend and unfortunately Anne slipped on the way down and twisted her ankle. She managed to soldier on down the mountain but her ankle was sore and swollen. After wearing the device it speeded up the bruising process such that one day it was completely black and the next day the bruising had gone. I think Anne was pretty amazed and we will definitely be taking these devices with us! If you are interested in hearing more about the firefly device, please leave a comment at the end.
Here are some photos of Anne and I during training up Snowdon:
We don’t have many weekends left at all now and may only manage one more climb before the big one which is quite scary. We’re still keeping up with our training though with lots of running, walking and gym classes. We also need to now mentally prepare ourselves for what is to come. I am looking forward to the week before so that I can carb up and have diarised a trip to Burger King, guilt free!
We are climbing with Team Kilimanjaro and you can find their link here. Keep this safe as you will be able to follow us whilst we are there and see how we are getting on. I am guessing my mum, dad and boyfriend will be glued to this! Look for DABE climbing on 4th July.
Don’t forget, our fundraising & Farewell event is on Friday 27th April in Aintree, Liverpool. We hope you can make it.
Thank you once again for your continued support.
